CARROT gives you powerful options to manage your locations. To add a new city, simply click the city name at the top of the main app or at the bottom of the Mini Window. In the main app, you can also click and drag the locations up or down in the list to reorder them, or you can right-click to delete them.
CARROT updates your default location continuously in the background. Your default location’s data is always displayed in the menu bar and in the Dock icon’s badge, even if you’re currently viewing the weather for another city. Weather notifications always come from your default location as well.
You can select either your current location, your last viewed location, or your mobile device’s location as your default location.
Current Location. CARROT will use Location Services to find your Mac’s current location. Your location is determined using information from local Wi-Fi networks. Your location data is collected anonymously, and not linked to any personally identifiable information. Read more in the Privacy Policy.
Last Viewed Location. Whenever you load the weather for a city, that city automatically becomes your default location. So if you live in Boston and just want to look up the weather for Miami real quick, make sure you switch back to Boston when you’re done.
Mobile Device’s Location. If you enable the “Sync Location to Mac” feature in CARROT Weather for iOS, you can use your mobile device’s current location as your default location. This is perfect for when you’re out and about, miles away from your Mac, since you’ll receive precipitation notifications for where you are right now instead of for where your Mac is currently sitting.
