CARROT Hunger Privacy Policy

CARROT takes the privacy of her users seriously and will always strive to protect your privacy and preserve the trust you place in her. 

CARROT is owned, operated, and maintained by Grailr LLC (“Grailr”, “us”, or “we”). This Privacy Policy is designed to tell you about our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information that Grailr and/or its third party service providers collect through the CARROT Hunger application (“CARROT Hunger” or “Application”). Data collected through your use of the Application is governed by this Privacy Policy. Please be sure to read this entire Privacy Policy before using the Application.

By accessing or using CARROT Hunger, you consent to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy. Irrespective of which country you live or use the Application in, you authorize us to transfer, store, and use your information in the United States and any other country where we operate. We may modify or update this Privacy Policy at any time effective upon its posting on CARROT Hunger. Your continued use of this Application constitutes your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and any modifications or updates thereto.

Information Collection and Use

We collect and use your information to provide, understand, and improve CARROT Hunger. We only collect and retain as much information as is absolutely necessary for the ongoing operation of our services. This information may include:

• Your usage of CARROT Hunger features;
• The type of device you use, the IP address of your device, and your operating system;
• Measurement units (e.g., calories versus kilojoules); and
• Your current victory streak in CARROT Hunger.

We do not collect or store your Personal Information or Health Data on our servers (see Personal Information section below for more details).

We use the information we collect to create, develop, operate, deliver, and improve our products, services, content, and advertising.

We retain your information only as long as necessary to provide our services. Specifically, we retain the following information:

• All support-related communications, including but not limited to user-initiated emails and automated bug reports.

Personal Information

Your use of CARROT Hunger may cause certain information, including information you may consider personal to you ("Personal Information"), to be stored locally on your iPhone ("Device"). This data includes your birth date, height and weight, gender, and specific details of the foods you consume (“Health Data").

By default, your Personal Information is stored locally on your Device. You may also opt to store your Personal Information with third party service providers such as Dropbox and/or Apple's Health App Database (see relevant sections below). If you have an iCloud account, CARROT Hunger will also sync some data relating to your use of the Application, such as the number of foods logged and your current victory streak, to Apple's iCloud Database. None of your Health Data is backed up to iCloud.

We will treat your Personal Information and Health Data as confidential (see relevant sections below). We will not share your Personal Information or Health Data with third parties, such as third party service providers and/or advertisers, without your permission. Your Personal Information and Health Data is never uploaded to Grailr’s servers.

Dropbox Integration

You may opt to sync and back up your Health Data with Dropbox. Authentication with Dropbox is carried out using Dropbox's official APIs using OAuth2; CARROT Hunger does not store your Dropbox username or password. You can stop syncing data to Dropbox at any time by turning the Dropbox sync feature off in CARROT Hunger's settings. You can delete your CARROT Hunger data from Dropbox at any time by deleting the CARROT Hunger folder from your Dropbox account.

CARROT Hunger is in no way responsible for the protection of the Health Data and/or other information stored in your Dropbox account. You and Dropbox are solely responsible for the protection of such information in your Dropbox account. Please review Dropbox's applicable policies and procedures before syncing and backing up your Health Data and/or other information with Dropbox.

Apple Health App Integration

You may opt to integrate CARROT Hunger with Apple's Health App Database. If you grant CARROT Hunger access to Apple's Health App Database, CARROT Hunger will import your data from the Health App Database into the Application in certain circumstances, such as to track foods or exercises logged outside of the Application. In addition, CARROT Hunger may transfer data that you store locally on your Device, such as food or workout information, to the Health App Database. CARROT Hunger cannot read from or write to the Health App Database unless you grant access. You can stop syncing data to the Health App Database at any time by disabling access in the Sources tab of the Health App. Data accessed from the Health App Database will never be shared with third parties, such as third party service providers and/or advertisers, without your permission.

CARROT Hunger is in no way responsible for the protection of the Health Data and/or other information stored with Apple's Health App Database. You and Apple are solely responsible for the protection of such information in the Health App Database. Please review Apple's applicable policies and procedures before syncing and backing up your Health Data and/or other information with the Health App Database.

Sharing Information

CARROT Hunger allows you to share certain information, such as foods logged and calorie goals, with social networks, including Facebook and Twitter. CARROT Hunger will never automatically share your information to social networks and/or third parties without your consent.

CARROT Hunger is in no way responsible for the protection of any information that you choose to share with social networks. You and such social networks are solely responsible for the protection of such information. Please review any applicable policies and procedures of such social networks before sharing your information therein.

Third-Party Data Processors

CARROT Hunger uses third-party services to provide calorie data. These services may collect, process, and store information about you, including but not limited to your IP address.

Advertising

If you are using a version of CARROT Hunger that contains advertising, we may use the information described in this Privacy Policy to help make our advertising more relevant to you or to measure its effectiveness. 

Aggregated Data Collection

CARROT Hunger may automatically collect anonymous information regarding your interaction with, and use of, CARROT Hunger. Anonymous information that we may collect includes, but is not limited to, device identifier and hardware information, IP address, system type, and other information about your interactions with the Application. We use this information to operate and improve our Application and customer support. We do not share this anonymous personal information with third parties except to the extent necessary to accomplish CARROT Hunger’s functionality. We may share anonymous, aggregate statistics with outside parties, such as how many people use a particular feature in CARROT Hunger. Anonymous, aggregated data is considered non-personal information for the purposes of this Privacy Policy.

Website Visitors

As is true of most internet services, we gather some information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes Internet Protocol (“IP”) addresses, browser type and language, Internet service provider (“ISP”), referring and exit websites and applications, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data.

We use this information to understand and analyze trends, to administer the site, to learn about user behavior on the site, to improve our product and services, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. Grailr may use this information in our marketing and advertising services.

Information Disclosure

We may preserve or disclose your information if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or request from public and government authorities within or outside your country of residence, such as to comply with a subpoena or for law enforcement purposes; when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others; to address fraud, security, technical issues, or to protect our operations; or if Grailr is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale or transfer of all or a portion of its assets.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information about you that is in our possession and control, such as your Personal Information and Health Data, from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no Internet transmission is ever completely secure or error-free. In particular, email sent between you and us may not be secure, due, for instance, to the security practices that you, your email carrier, and/or Internet provider employ. You should therefore take special care in deciding what information you send to us via email. Please keep this in mind when disclosing any personal information to us via the Internet.

You are solely responsible for the protection of your Device, including any use of CARROT Hunger or any storage of Personal Information or Health Data incident to the use of CARROT Hunger on your Device. Please consult your Device's documentation on how to manage local storage and how to apply appropriate security controls to the Device for the protection of information, such as passwords. You are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Device password.

Personal Information or Health Data that is stored on your Device is your responsibility. In the event that your Device becomes lost or inoperable, your Health Data may not be recoverable (see relevant sections above).

Accessing or Deleting Your Information

You may access or delete your Personal Information stored in Apple’s Health App or Dropbox at any time.

Personal Information is not stored on our servers.

Use of Application by Minors

CARROT Hunger is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We do not knowingly collect or maintain information on our servers from children under the age of 18. CARROT Hunger is designed for users over the age of 18; no part of the Application is structured to attract anyone under the age of 18 and we do not target our Application to children under 18. If you are under 18, please do not use or submit any data through the Application. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s Internet usage and to help enforce our Privacy Policy by instructing their children to never use the Application or submit any data through the Application without their permission. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 18 has provided data to us, please contact us and we will endeavor to delete that information from our servers.

Information for European Union Customers

By using CARROT Hunger and providing your information, you authorize us to collect, use, and store your information outside of the European Union.

International Transfers of Information

Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located and our central database is operated. The data protection and other laws of the United States and other countries might not be as comprehensive as those in your country. Please be assured that we seek to take reasonable steps to ensure that your privacy is protected. By using the Application, you understand that your information may be transferred to our facilities and those third parties with whom we share it as described in this Privacy Policy.

Disclaimer

While we work hard to protect your data, no transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure, and we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us. Transmitting personal information is done at your own risk.

Privacy Policy Updates

At times it may be necessary for us to make changes to this Privacy Policy such as due to changes in the services we offer, Apple's policies and procedures, and/or the applicable laws of the United States. We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice. Please review this Privacy Policy periodically, especially before you provide any Personal Information or Health Data to CARROT Hunger.

This Privacy Policy was last updated on the date indicated below. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will become effective when we post the revised Privacy Policy on CARROT Hunger. As set forth above, your continued use of the Application after any changes or revisions to this Privacy Policy shall indicate your acceptance and agreement with the terms of such revised Privacy Policy.
